Windows Vista

The first screenshots of Windows Vista are popping up on the internet. The remark of Steve Jobs (Redmond, start your photocopiers) has been proven right. Several features of Longh—, eh, Vista seems to be copied from Tiger.

But…A microsoft developer has the best excuse ever:

“If you are slow (or lazy) in your development, you never can be called a copycat”
Or, like he puts it:

Naturally, some Macintosh users will claim that this is like “Dashboard”. And indeed there are similarities here. But Microsoft has been working on Avalon a lot longer than Apple was working on Dashboard. And Avalon Express applications are designed to be very secure from day 1.

What the Hack 2005

Shame on me. I won’t be going this year.
Having misplanned my holiday and primarly by miscalculating the date (”WHAT?! in 2 weeks allready!”) so that the company-agenda didn’t have any room for me to leave the office. Too bad, but luckily the most lectures will be online anyway.
The only thing I really will be missing in meeting up with friends and 1000’s of other nerds.

Meanwhile the preperations are ongoing, they looked up the infamous “PEG-DHCP” RFC (rfc2322.txt) again and someone was found as volunteer to write up 2 /22 subnets all by himself!

1000+ pegs

My own preparation has been blocking the What-The-Hack subnet (87.76.0.0 /16) on my firewalls.
Better safe as sorry :-D
